Hello,
Thanks for this English Spoken Board. Now I could really ask this big question of mine.
How they make the pivot turn on rc tank and the turret stays in one place. A few years back I've watched a video from Germany were this 1/8 Leo 2A5 made that move. Do you guys know anything about this? Is there any special electronic device that can be purchase? Or need to modified the Radio Control?
Regards,
Gid

Norbert,
No its not the gun with gyro I know about that, it's the turret itself that stays in one place and the hull doing the pivot turn. Just like the real thing.
I could send you the video clips and the photo of the person who owns the Leo, I think he's a member of RAG Club? Let me know if its ok to send it to your address.
Hi Jefferey, yeah its me from Los Angeles California area with your uncle Peter. Glad to see you here too.
Regards,
Gid

Hi Gid,
thanks for the Video.
You maen, that the turret stand on one point and the tank hull on place turn. That can you build with a Gyroscope from the helicopters in the turret. I know, that some people build this.

Hello Gid,
in this forum, we have discued a wapon stabilisation for about 2 years.
But jet, we havend found a proper solution for a modell wapon-stabilisation.
A Wapon stabilisation can be divided into two different problems:
1.) stabilisation of the canon hight
2.) stabilisation of the turret rotation
For the stabilisation of the turret rotation you can use a model helicopter gyro.
But a primitive helicopter gyro has some disatvatages in using it as a turret stabilisation.
First it is not sensitive enough to detect small changes of the turret rotation, so in this case, the turret did not hold its place.
Second the gyro slowly drifts in right or left direction, so you have to correct this misdemeanour permanentliy with your radiocontrol.
I have tested a helicopter gyro in the turret of my tamiya leopard 1A4 and was not fully satisfied with the result. Therefore i am working on a turred sabilisation based on a electonic compass.

Have there been any developments on this? I have been able to do similar moves on my Tamiya leopard2 with no conversions. It takes some practaice and is best done on a smooth surface. The turret controls are proportional so they move faster or slower based on the amount of stick movement. Basically time the turret turn to the turn rate of the hull. With enough work you can get quite good at it.
Now this doesnt mean that a turret rotational lock wouldnt be cool to have. I would certainley like one for the big leo im getting.
