Hello everyone,

I´m from Sweden and want to make the Swedish version of the Leopard 2 A6. I´m going to buy first the plastic model from Hobby Boss of the Stridsvagn 122 so I have a good object to build from. Then I will get the Tamiya Leo and "kit-bash" it to look like the Swedish strv 122.

The radio I want to use for the strv 122 is a Multiplex cockpit SX M-Link 2,4 ghz. The reason that I want that radio is because I´m also building 1zu87 models (H0 scale 1/87) and Multiplex have a 6 channel microreceiver on 2,4 Ghz. The radio has also 7 channels and 18 model memory.

Regarding different radiosystem have heard and read that the Spectrum radios on 2,4 Ghz and tanks funktion modules you will not have all the sounds from the tank. One particular is the starting sound, it has been discussed on RC Universe. The Futaba 2,4 Ghz and modified old 35 mhz radios with a Corona module on 2,4 Ghz has no problems at all. The Multiplex system is not so common in Sweden or in the USA so there is not so many that has tried it. But in Germany there are allot of Multiplex users so hopefully there will be someone that have or maybe can try the M-Link system with Tamiya tanks.

Some info about the Swedish Stridsvagn 122.

The Strv 122 that I want to build is going to have winter paint scheme.

A thread about the Hobby Boss model.

The Swedish strv 122.

Swedish Armed Forces (unofficial) site about the strv 122.

Regards from Sweden

Niklas

Hello Niklas,

as I understood what you are saying is that you intend to take that strv 122 as a basic plan for reconstruction of a Tamiya Leopard 2A6 into a swedish version. Due to that idea it shouldn´t be any problem to implement both a common 2,4 GHz receiver and sender using the radio parts of Tamiya (DMD T07)

Or do you plan to rebuild the strv 122 using parts of a Tamiya Leo 2A6?

Did I get your problem?

Best regards

Jürgen

Hello Jürgen,

I was maybe not to clear on my question because I mixed both the question and the background in the same topic.

The question is:

I want to use the Multiplex cockpit SX M-Link 2,4 Ghz system, with the Tamiya DMD-T07 Leopard sound an function module. I don´t want to have the same problem like it is with a Spectrum radio on 2,4 Ghz, and tank funktion modules. You will not get all the sounds from the tank sound module if you use Spectrum radio. One particular is the starting sounds.

And here I would like to know if someone has tried the Multiplex M-Link system in a Tamiya tank or in there 1/14 trucks. And if so, has it occurred some problems with sounds and functions.

In Sweden and the US are Multiplex not so common. In Sweden it´s most often a Futaba / Robbe transmitter or a old 35 Mhz radio with a Corona 2,4 Ghz module conversion. And in Germany is Multiplex more common.

Regards

Niklas

Ok Niklas,

now I got you. I don´t have experience with those radios. The experts in this forum will assist you in any way and I am sure that you will get a lot of advices.

BR Jürgen.

Hello again,

I have found a good book about the Leopards in international service. The book KAMPFPANZER LEOPARD 2: INTERNATIONAL SERVICE FRANK LOBITZ. Allot of information about the difference between them and very good pictures. The Swedish Strv 122 is well documented here.

Hello Felix,

That was a nice piece of work. Is it ok that I later on ask questions via PM regarding some of the steps when I start with mine.
