Tanklovers,
Is there no interest for this splendid kit,on which a lot of modifications are possible (and necessary) to make this vehicle a real miniature battle tank.
As I know a lot about this tank,I was astonished to discover that the idler wheels and the return rollers had no rubber tyres. No problem,I made the moulds to cover them with black 2 components PU rubber. The installation of the battery in the overcrowded turret did not please me,just as the presence of an enormous speaker box in the hull, that did only contain a small, cheap speaker and also wasted a lot of available space.
I found out that a battery of 7,2 V could also be composed by 3 rows of 2 cells instead of 2 rows of 3 cells. Also, with some modifications(I love work on plastics...)I could locate the new type of battery in the modified box, together with a bigger and more powerfull speaker.
Leobel.

Hello,
Just up now NO response from the english speaking tanklovers.
I cann't think there is no interest for this splendid Tamiy-kit,on which I am working.
Now I have found enough place and space to install some supplementary items, such as a siren and eventually a smoke generator for the exhaust, all this in the so called speaker box, which is "reworked"
Something bothers me,as I haven't found a good solution for the problem of the twisted connection wires between hull and turret;as after a while I cann't remember the number of rotations I let made the cupola.... and as the disconnection of the upper hull is a lot of work,I am looking for a solution,to prevent more than one revolution.
Can sommebody help me ????
Thanks from Leobel.

hi leobel,

I think here are lot of guys they allready have make al lot of modifications on there models. I think a bigger speaker is not nessesary, a more powefull amplifier will do the same job. ask "frahag" her in the forum, he has allready put in a 10-15W amplifiere in his leo and the sound is great !!!!!!!!!!
more important to work on, is to make the chassis free from play !!
do you have some pic´s of your mod´s , specialy the smoke generator for the exhaust would be verry interestet to see.

regards

axel :p

I put hand rail around smoke launcher to protect them, also around the bucket.
I put charging system in, so I do not have to open to charge the battery.
I install the battery in the hull, so whole tank is not head heavy and more room in turret.
also I came up with the sulotion to close the rear end of turret. will take some pictures.

I love the kit. I also agree on the battery issue. they could have made some of the other compoents like the DMD unit as part of the speaker box to leave room for the battery. My main issue with the kit was the use of ABS plastic for the lower hull and styrene plastic for the suspension arms. Other than that the kit runs well and takes a great bit of use with no issues.
I am working on converting my tamiya into the PSO version of the tank right now just for a change.

Hi Leo2A6owner,

you are workin on a very interesting version! I am looking forward to see some picture of your PSO model.
Do you plan, to make the dozer-blade workable for barricade removal?

Unfortunately the blade will be static. I am making progress on it actually. No pics of the blade but i have also sorted that out.

Heres a link to an album of last weeks progress. I still cant find any good shots of the upper rear enging deck. They drastically changed the radiator cooling air intake arrangement.

Hi Leo2A6Owner ,

Therefore, first one once welcome in the forum. ;)

That what you make there, already looks very good.

This model is not yet nevertheless so current in our forum and you will have to search around the corresponding photographs for a long time and/or find drawings.

Small tip of me: Rheinmetall might turn you once to the company with your problem, those will be able to help you there. ( I already think ) ;)

Thanks Kiki
I already tried contacting Rheinmetall with no luck. I guess the vehicle may still be undergoing some testing and evaluation. the only rear deck pics i could find are of a converted model where the lower hull changes hadnt been made yet.
Another thing i find interesting on the PSO version is the use on an american M2 browning in the remote weapon station on the turret. I would have thought they would have moved the MG-3 to that.

Hi,

try it again at Krauss-Maffei Wegmann . The tank will be built by them. I hope you will have more luck, than I had with my PSB2 project.
I think the picture base from the Eurosatory in Paris this year is the best you can find. There are 2 pictures where you can see a few details of the upper hull.

Sean,
first wellcome here.
Since the first pic`s of the PSO set in the net I was wondering why noboddy has start a convertion from the A6 to the PSO. Congratulation it seams to me you'r the first. I'm verry pleased of it and highly appreciate.
I'll try to convert the Graupner Leo into the PSO before I start with an expecive Tamya and your pictures are verry helpfull.
I allready start my project with the collection of ideas, material and information.
If your blade will be a static one only you can try to use the 1:16 blade from Bruder. Which you can buy as a sparpart under http://www.modellzell.de for little money.
With some little modifications it should be possible to make a scale one out of it.

In excepetation of further building reports and pic's of your PSO
best rgds

Thanks for the info Kiki unfortunately those are the exact pictures i have downloaded and printed out. Sadly none of them show a viable arrangement of the details of the top of the engine deck. Personally im inclined to believe that the radiators now get their cooling air through the vent around the sides instead of from above now. the top wouls have to be covered in hatches and panels for access to the radiators themselves. Looks like ill just have to guess and make some details that look like they would serve that purpose for maintenance.
