Hi everyone,
greetings from the sunny island of Singapore!
I'm totally new to the RC tank scene but I've been into RC trucks and cars for several years already. I've always been drawn towards RC tanks and lately, I've been scouting more and more around RC tank forums. I find the stuff here simply amazing. Although I cannot read nor write German, I spend alot of time trying to translate some of the information here on online translation sites into english.
Super impressive stuff and super motivating!
All Singaporean men need to serve national service in either the navy, army or air force (because our country is so small). After national service, we remain in the reserve units until we're too old! I've always been with the Combat Engineers and bridge laying tanks are very close to my heart.
However, I've always had trouble finding RC bridge laying tanks. I've seen one awesome build on youtube and came across a german forum once (lost the links and can't find it on google) that had someone build a Leopard Biber AVLB.
Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a good Leopard Biber AVLB RC Tank? or have enough information for me to try building one?
Any help would be great!
Thanks very much!
Ian

Hi Ian,
Welcome to this forum.
I am from the Netherlands and my german is not so good either ( thats why I don't write so often) but as you yourself already said there are a lot of incredible modelbuilders with awesome models here on rcpanzer.de
I don't know what scale this biber, your looking for, should be but a Belgium modelbuilder has one for sale.
It's scale is 1/4 and weighs 600kg
It sells for € 5000,00 and that is without post and package
The model is wire guided and the bridge does not yet work although all motors are installed.
If you have any questions.............. please do ask.
Kind regards,
Klaas Postmus

Hi guys, thanks for the warm welcome!
Klaas,
that baby is BIG!! Whoa!
As much as I want it, 1) I'll never be able to fork out that kind of money 2) I won't have enough space at home to store it! 3) customs will probably think I'm nutz and give me a hard time 4) and lastly, while my kids would love it, my wife surely won't!
But it looks amazing!
Axel,
thanks for the links. The second link was the one I came across previously. Thanks for sharing it again!
The day I got my Gepard, I already had wonderful plans about building a biber/leguan RC tank but obviously I did not (and still do not) have a engineering mind to design one. I've never had any form of education in physics nor engineering so I found it so frustrating trying to think up how the launching and stowing mechanism on these AVLBs work.
Getting the tank to look like a biber should not be a problem as I really love detailing and modelling. I coughed up some cash (wife doesn't know!) to buy the main chassis of a tamiya leopard in the hope of fulfiling my idea one day. It's been almost 4 years now and I still haven't been able to find enough information on how the bridge mechanism and launch mechanism actually functions. I know how the bridge generally shifts but I have no clue how the different parts move and what's required to bring the bridge down and back up again....sigh.
With all the engineering genius available in Germany and on this forum, I may sound really dumb and stupid. But my interest is more important than my ego.
So I wonder if anyone can help me out with the design and schematics to eventually build one for myself.

I definitely have to focus on the 1/16 scale for any rc tank as I really have no space for any beauty bigger than that! Singapore is a very small country and living space is very scarce and costly. And in any case, I want something to compliment my 1/16 Gepard.
